# Adding a Friendly Name to your sites

We've added the ability to show a "friendly name" for your sites, instead of the domain and the URL associated with it.

For each website, you can configure the _display name_ that we should use to present the website.

This will be the name used throughout Oh Dear! in place likes our Slack or Email alerts, the dashboard, the breadcrumb, ...

This is especially convenient when you want to check the uptime for multiple pages on a single domain or when you have very long URLs that you can easily abbreviate to an internal project name.

It'll also be a core piece of one of our next features we'll be building: status pages. But more on that later. #teaser ;-)
