Remote, anywhere Freelance, project-based 2026 redesign

Most monitoring tools look like they were designed as an afterthought. Cluttered dashboards, confusing navigation, interfaces that technically work but don't feel good to use.

Oh Dear has always been different. But now we want to go further. We're redesigning our app to be exceptional. The kind of interface where every pixel has been considered, every interaction feels intuitive, and users actually notice the craft.

That's the bar. If you're excited by that challenge, keep reading.

What you'll do

  • Redesign the entire Oh Dear app experience - dashboards, monitoring views, settings, alerts, onboarding, and more
  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Develop a design system that's consistent, scalable, and obsessively detailed
  • Work closely with us to refine user flows until they feel effortless
  • Collaborate with the developer who'll implement your designs - and care about how faithfully they're translated

What we're looking for

We're not looking for someone who's "pretty good." We want someone exceptional.

  • A portfolio that makes us jealous — show us web app work where you've solved complex problems beautifully.
  • An obsession with details — you notice when spacing is inconsistent or a transition feels off.
  • Systems thinking — you can design components that work in 20 different contexts.
  • Clear communication — we work async and remote, so articulate design decisions in writing.
  • Strong opinions, loosely held — we want someone who pushes back with better ideas, but also knows when to collaborate.

Experience with data-heavy dashboards or monitoring tools? That's a bonus - but great design thinking transfers across domains.

How to apply

If this sounds like your kind of project, send an email to [email protected] with:

Your best work - links to projects where you're genuinely proud of the result
A critique of Oh Dear - sign up for a trial, poke around, and tell us what you'd improve (be honest, we can take it)
Why this project - what about what we've described here resonates with you?
Your availability and rate - let's make sure we're in the same ballpark

Skip the generic cover letter. We'd rather see how you think than read about your "passion for excellence."
