Can I be billed in USD instead of EUR?
Yes. Oh Dear bills in EUR or USD, whichever makes more sense for your team.
By default, new accounts are billed in EUR. If you'd rather be billed in USD (because your company's books are in dollars, for example), contact support with your account details and we'll switch you over.
What the switch actually looks like
Honest heads-up: currency switches are a bit tricky in Stripe (our payment provider). Stripe can't just toggle the currency on an existing subscription. What we do on our side is:
- Cancel your current EUR subscription
- Ask you to re-subscribe in USD on the updated plan page
- Pro-rate any leftover balance from the cancelled subscription as credit on the new one, so you don't pay extra
There's usually a brief gap between the two subscriptions, measured in minutes. Your monitoring keeps running during that gap, but your billing account is technically between subscriptions. We coordinate the timing with you over email so nothing surprises you.
Previously issued invoices stay in their original currency. We don't retroactively re-issue them.
Pricing isn't a live FX conversion
EUR and USD prices are near-equivalent at our published rates, but they're not tied to the day's exchange rate. Depending on market swings, one currency may be slightly cheaper than the other on a given day. For a stable long-term bill in a specific currency, that's a feature, not a bug.
Other currencies
No GBP, CHF, AUD, INR, CAD, or other locals today. If a specific currency is a hard requirement for your procurement, let us know. Hearing which currencies come up most often helps us prioritize.
